Most Business students have been engaged in internships and case competitions to prepare for their careers. Like no other, Wilson spent his spare time in joining the Service Leadership Training Programme (SLTP) at CityUHK throughout his 4-year university journey that offered him a fruitful volunteering experience and dynamic campus life.

The volunteering experience in secondary school led Wilson to enrol in SLTP as a junior member of Wise Walker after entering CityUHK, hoping to serve the children or adolescents of disabled parents. Apart from conducting individual tutorial sessions, Wilson and teammates arranged personal growth activities for the kids and brought them to Tamar Park, Tai Kwun, West Kowloon Cultural District and the Peak, etc. One of the children had been amazed by her first visit to Central, which encouraged Wilson to create more invaluable memories for the disadvantaged families.

Wilson had been promoted from Manager to Director of SLTP during his final year at CityUHK that provided opportunities for him to dabble in other service teams’ work such as Cultural Walker and Friendly Neighbour. In addition to knowing different aspects of SLTP, Wilson attended leadership training course to enhance his communication, interpersonal and event organisation skills. Wilson truly appreciates the inspiring experience gained through SLTP and believes that he and the service users have grown together.

The diversified resources provided by CityUHK empowers Wilson to illustrate the unique pathway as an undergraduate by pursuing academic goals and whole person development. He is grateful for the exchange opportunity of studying overseas engaged him in new learning experiences and toastmasters’ activities. All the soft skills that Wilson acquired in the university life will contribute to his career development.

Wilson plans to establish a rewarding career in banking industry in future. Meanwhile, Wilson is looking forward to participating in the corporate volunteering team and eager to serve the community with his breadth of experience.
