Biosafety
Biosafety is a fundamental priority at CityU, ensuring the protection of researchers, the public, and the environment. Adhering to strict biosafety protocols is essential when handling bioagents and biomaterials. It is crucial to note that any bioagents and biomaterials classified above Risk Group 2 or Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) are strictly prohibited at CityU. This measure is in place to mitigate potential risks associated with higher-level pathogens and to maintain a safe research environment.
To further enhance safety, CityU has implemented a new biohazard worker registration system. This initiative aims to monitor and safeguard the health and safety of all personnel working with biohazardous materials. Researchers must undergo comprehensive biosafety training and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, lab coats, and face masks. Proper containment practices, including the use of biosafety cabinets and secure storage, are mandatory to prevent accidental release or exposure.
All research activities at CityU must strictly follow the CityU Guidelines for Biological Safety in the Laboratory. By adhering to these protocols and utilizing the biohazard worker registration system, researchers can ensure their work is conducted safely and responsibly, upholding the highest scientific integrity and public health standards.
