Driving Clothing Circularity On Campus
This Spring, 62 trained students from eight universities, including eight students from CityU, joined the JCSCCP Sustainability Leadership Programme to learn about issues of overconsumption and waste to landfill in the clothing industry, and what they can do to make a positive impact After learning from local circular fashion experts from @getredressed and @jupyeah, students teams were tasked with developing and delivering a project that helps drive clothing circularity within their own university communities
To encourage upcycling, the students @cityu_greencircularity ran the 'Revamp Your Jeans' project, collecting damaged jeans from the CityU community, and ran an upcycling workshop for their peers to transform the denim into coasters and scrunchies. During the workshop, they also shared principles of circularity to their peers!
Next time you have a damaged clothing item, try looking up upcycling ideas on the internet and give them a try!
