Vast career options upon graduation
The Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree is a recognised qualification for admission to the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL), a prerequisite for entering the legal profession in Hong Kong. Students of the Crime Science and Laws double degree will procure knowledge and skills necessary to undertake managerial and executive responsibilities in a wide range of professions, including policing, crime prevention, security services, correctional services, conflict resolution, and the operation of non-governmental organizations. Many opportunities will be provided for students to develop an interest in discovery and innovation to benefit society through crime control and reduction. The skill set taught in the double degree enables students to apply for jobs in the government, disciplinary forces and private corporations.

About the Programme
The double degree programme between the Department of Social and Behavioural Sciences in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and the School of Law aims to equip degree-level graduates with broad knowledge of crime science and laws; and professional competence to conduct scientific and legal research to develop practical and ethical ways to reduce crime and increase security in society.
In particular with respect to the Law degree the major aims to:
- provide a liberal education in the theory and practice of law at the level and rigour appropriate for an undergraduate degree;
- equip students with a critical understanding of law and legal institutions so as to enable them to serve the needs of Hong Kong and the international community; and
- facilitate the development of a range of intellectual skills, in particular the ability to think analytically and critically, to solve problems, and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Department of Social and Behavioural Sciences
The Department of Social and Behavioural Sciences prides itself on a long track record in offering quality learning in academic programmes delivered by a multi-disciplinary team of brilliant and committed scholars who bring real world experience into the learning environment. The mission of the Department is to provide quality learning and professional training in the disciplines of Applied Sociology, Counselling, Crime Science, Psychology, and Social Work, excel in related research areas, and promote the betterment of life. - Grade B / Grade 6 or above in IGCSE First Language English or grade A/7 in IGCSE English as a Second Language; OR

Curriculum Structure
The minimum number of credit units required for graduation is 150 credits. In line with the University’s tuition fees policy, any extra credit units exceeding 144 completed in the first four years and any credit units taken in the fifth year of study and beyond will be charged on a self-financing basis.

Why Bachelor of Laws and BBA Accountancy?
The School of Law and the Department of Accountancy are internationally renowned for the strengths of their respective disciplines. Their work is linked with the financial and corporate sectors, which often have legal disputes that can only be solved by those with a detailed knowledge of accounting. Students in the double degree programme will acquire wide-ranging legal knowledge and skills that will enable them to progress to professional legal training, and will also acquire foundational knowledge that can assist them to qualify as accountants. The graduates of the double degree programme, the Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Business Administration in Accountancy, benefit from a rigorous legal education combined with solid academic training in accounting within a global business mindset. Curriculum Structure
Students will enrol in a number of courses offered by AC (accounting courses) and SLW (law courses) in all semesters in the five-year programme, to complete a minimum requirement of 150 credit units (including 54 credit units for accounting and business courses and 57 credit units for law courses). In line with the University’s tuition fees policy, any extra credit units exceeding 144 completed in the first four years and any credit units taken in the fifth year of study and beyond will be charged on a self-financing basis.

The double degree will prepare students for a career in the legal and financial sectors, and they will also have the option to become a legal professional. Students will receive a well-rounded education from our staff, which includes distinguished teachers and scholars from Hong Kong, Mainland China, the UK, Australia, India, and Malaysia. In addition, students will have the opportunity to be taught by visiting faculty from law schools all around the world.
Professional Accreditation
Students who complete the Law Major and two additional specific law electives (6 credits) will satisfy the requirements stipulated by the Standing Committee on Legal Education and Training to apply for admission to the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL).
In accordance with the professional accreditation guidelines, after commencement of the double degree programme requests for accreditation will be submitted to professional bodies, e.g., The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), to obtain the same professional accreditation as the Bachelor of Business Administration in Accountancy programme.

The LLB programme is an undergraduate law degree for students interested in legal education and practice. Student Achievements
The CityUHK mooting team has earned a formidable, world-class reputation. In 2023/24, CityUHK not only won the 2024 Jessup Hong Kong Regional Rounds and went into the International Round but also won the 11th Asia-Pacific M&A Moot Competition.
In addition, the CityUHK mooting team has own twelve championships in international mooting competitions over the past years. These include being a three-time winner of the Susan J. Ferrell Intercultural Human Rights moot in North America (2011, 2013, 2016), winning both the prestigious Vis East and Vis Vienna moot championships (2012-2013) in Asia and Europe; being the first Asian team ever to win the International Criminal Court Trial Competition in Europe (2012); and being champions of the 8th Asia-Pacific M&A Moot Competition and the first International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Commercial Mediation Competition - Hong Kong (both in 2018). In addition to international championships, our students have won numerous awards for best speakers and best memorials.
Student Exchange / Internship
Student Exchange
Students are encouraged to pursue exchange studies outside Hong Kong by participating in the student exchange programmes organised by CityUHK and the School of Law, with the opportunity to study for one semester at a university in Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, the Netherlands, the U.K., the U.S., etc.
Internship
SLW provides a credit-bearing legal placement programme for its students. Students complete these placements in law firms, barristers’ chambers, legal journal publishing houses, international companies and banks.
