Overview
Final-year students or graduates of an Associate Degree (AD) / Higher Diploma (HD) programme recognized by the University are welcome to apply for senior year admission (Advanced Standing II) to articulate to CityUHK’s Bachelor's degree programmes.
AD / HD graduates who do not receive a senior-year (Advanced Standing II) place, or graduating students or graduates of high school following non-HKDSE curriculum (e.g. IB, GCE) / transfer students from local or overseas bachelor’s degree programmes from other universities, may be considered for Advanced Standing I admission. The minimum graduation requirement for Advanced Standing I students is 90 credit units (instead of 120 credit units for a standard four-year curriculum), subject to the requirements of individual degrees / majors.
Please note that senior-year admission (Advanced Standing II) is only available to local students.
Entrance Requirements
Final-year graduating students or graduates of Associate Degree / Higher Diploma programmes from a recognised institution are welcome to apply for senior-year entry to CityUHK.
Applicants should hold an appropriate Higher Diploma / Associate Degree from a recognised institution.
No CGPA or overall mark requirements are set for the purpose of application. However, as competition for admission is keen, accepted applicants are normally expected to have completed an AD / HD with a CGPA ≥ 3.0 or an equivalent overall mark, or a credit award.
In addition to the General Entrance Requirements, individual programmes may have programme-specific entrance requirements for specific subject background or may set a higher GPA requirement for admission.
Admission is competitive. Possession of the minimum qualifications in no way guarantees acceptance.
Admission Arrangements
Admission to Year 3 with Credit Transfer (Advanced Standing II)
Senior-year entrants admitted with Advanced Standing II take fewer credits units for
graduation (minimum 60 credit units instead of 120 credit units for a four-year degree curriculum, depending on majors).
These students will not be entitled to further credit transfer on the basis of qualifications attained prior to their admission to the University. Instead, students may be granted exemption from specific courses based on prior study. Credit units are not earned for exempted courses.
AD / HD graduates who do not receive a senior-year (Advanced Standing II) place may be considered for Advanced Standing I admission. It is not necessary for applicants to indicate their preference at the time of application. The offer of Advanced Standing I or Advanced Standing II entry is decided by the programme-offering unit. The minimum graduation requirement for Advanced Standing I students is 90 credit units (instead of 120 credit units for a standard four-year curriculum), subject to the requirements of individual degrees / majors.
For programmes without senior year (Advanced Standing II) admissions, applicants may consider submitting the Advanced Standing I admission applications, if available, instead.
