He is also the Founding Director of the Hong Kong T.C.M. Orthopaedic & Traumatic Charity Development Foundation and the Community Med Care Clinic.
In 1991, severe flooding in eastern China prompted Professor Wong to start up his own philanthropic work. He visited the affected area and established the Caring for Children Foundation, which launched an education programme aimed at building schools and offering mental health counselling services on the mainland. Later, the Invision Charity Foundation was established to nurture youngsters. Professor Wong has also generously donated to CityU, setting up exchange scholarships to benefit students.
Professor Wong encourages his family to donate to CityU, too. To show our appreciation for this high level of support, the University named Lecture Theatre 401 in the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Complex the Herbalgy Lecture Theatre and Lecture Theatre 17 in the Yeung Kin Man Academic Building the Wong To Yick Tong Lecture Theatre.
