Regional collaboration is growing exponentially as City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) continues to reach out to outstanding students in neighbouring countries and regions.

Amid a flurry of recent agreements with international partners, CityUHK has cemented new connections with three universities in Indonesia. Leaders from the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Petra Christian University (PCU) and Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) in Surabaya, Indonesia, are joining forces with CityUHK to expand academic exchanges and research partnerships.

Professor Djwantoro Hardjito, Rector of PCU, signed an MoU with CityUHK in July to boost exchanges for academic, research, and administrative personnel. Joint research projects in areas of mutual interest and sharing research results and institutional publications are all encouraged under the freshly signed agreement.

Additionally, CityUHK and PCU will explore the possibility to collaborate on a double master’s degree programme, allowing selected PCU master’s students to study for one year at CityUHK in pursuit of the master’s degree. Outstanding third- or final-year PCU bachelor’s students may receive a conditional offer of admission to a selected master's degree programme at CityUHK, with one year spent at CityUHK.

“Indonesia is an important partner country in the Belt and Road Initiative,” said Professor Freddy Boey, President of CityUHK. “By strengthening academic and cultural exchanges, CityUHK will collaborate with PCU to promote innovative research and cultivate more outstanding talent with an international perspective, thereby contributing to consolidating Hong Kong’s status as an international education hub.”

Further underscoring our status as the Most International University, according to Times Higher Education, meetings were held with Dr Bambang Pramujati, Rector of ITS, and Professor Dr Mohammad Nasih, Rector of UNAIR, during the July visit.
