Supervision
The Department will establish a Qualifying Panel for each student, which comprises an academic supervisor (who should be the Chair of the Panel), two other academic staff, and an industrial advisor from the student's sponsored company.
The Panel should:
- Approve courses for the student
- Monitor the student's study performance
- Assess the student's thesis proposal and authorise the official commencement of the thesis
- Assess the student's annual progress report and make recommendations to the Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies on the student's ability to continue studies and to undertake the thesis
- Recommend termination of candidature if the student's academic performance is unsatisfactory
- Certify that the student has satisfied all coursework requirements in the taught component and approve the submission of the thesis for examination
