My current goal is to contribute to a more sustainable future, and an education in an environment focused course was what I wanted. CityU SEE was my favourite choice when applying to Universities back in 2017. While searching for environment focused education opportunities, I was intrigued by what the degree offered and its broad teachings on all thing's environment as well as technical engineering knowledge. As someone who is excited to go to class (even the 9am classes), I have really enjoyed my time here. The faculty and students are always very friendly and welcoming.
As an international student in Hong Kong, I realised that there are numerous opportunities to be whoever I wanted to be. I was able to find like-minded individuals from many different backgrounds. This helped in making me more outspoken, open minded, and empathetic. This year I joined the SEE Student Chapter to be a bigger part of the SEE community. Even my parents can see and comment on my growth, which is thanks to SEE. I have also been pursuing my interest in the environment outside school by participating in beach clean-ups, attending environment related forums, and forming an inter-university environmental society (NESSS).
COVID-19 has made the past year more difficult than it should have been, I had to return to my home country and continue with online classes like many other international students. Surprisingly, the hardest thing I had to overcome was finding a new study routine and balancing it with family life. The quality of education has been the same as physical classes and the lecture recordings have given me a bit more flexibility to reduce inconvenience from time zone differences. In my opinion, SEE has adapted to online learning smoothly and it has been very accommodating to the international students.
