Video Competition

The CityUHK SEE Sustainability for Future Video Competition 2024 is open to all full-time secondary school students in Hong Kong. We aim to raise public awareness and interest in creating more sustainable buildings that align with the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) development goals. We invite participants to unleash their creativity and produce short, innovative videos (maximum 3 minutes) that highlight the significance of sustainability in relation to building design and operations. Show us your unique ideas and practical solutions to develop smart green buildings that contribute to a more sustainable future. Let's inspire others and pave the way towards sustainable building and a sustainable world!

Objectives:

  • To identify current problems related to buildings in society
  • To provide sustainable solutions to the identified problems
  • To generate public awareness and interest in smart green buildings that align with the goal of sustainability and ESG

Eligibility:

  • Secondary school students in Hong Kong
  • Individuals or teams of up to 10 students from the school
  • Each student or team can submit only one entry

Language:

Video presentation either in English or Chinese (Cantonese & Mandarin)

Format:

Participants are required to create a maximum 3-minute video. Upload to YouTube as an unlisted video (i.e. can only be seen and shared by anyone with the link). The video must be originally published.

Submission Deadline:

31 October 2024 23:59 (Hong Kong Time)

Extended to 18 November 2024 23:59 (Hong Kong Time)  [Submission Form]

Assessment Criteria:

Winning videos will be selected by a panel of judges appointed by the School of Energy and Environment, City University of Hong Kong based on below criteria:

Criteria Details
Content (40%)
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding and depth of knowledge on smart green buildings design and operation with the elements of sustainability and ESG
Innovation & Uniqueness (40%)
  • Contents that are engaging and captivating, which can stimulate the curiosity of the general public
  • The video should showcase original and innovative concepts that offer a fresh perspective on the topic
Production (20%)
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency and effective use of filmmaking techniques

Awards:

  • Gold Award: One trophy and a book voucher worth HKD 2,000
  • Silver Award: One trophy and a book voucher worth HKD 1,500
  • Bronze Award: One trophy and a book voucher worth HKD 1,000
  • Most Popular Video Award: One trophy and a book voucher worth HKD 1,000
  • Best Participation Award for School: One trophy and a certificate for the school with the highest number of video entries
  • All participants will receive a certificate of participation

Awards Presentation Ceremony:

All winners will be invited to attend an awards presentation ceremony at the SEE 15th Anniversary Dinner to be held on 6 December 2024
