With the passion in environmental protection, it is challenging to start a career in environmental-related industries. For career advancement, one of the choices is to pursue an environmental profession in the government sector. The talk would be sharing session on the career paths in the Environmental Protection Department (EPD). The structural training of environmental engineering graduates would also be illustrated.
Ir Dr. Lau is working as Senior Environmental Protection Officer in the Environmental Protection Department (EPD). He has served as Training Tutor and Engineering Supervisor for HKIE Scheme “A” Training in EPD for 22 years. For HKIE (Hong Kong Institution of Engineers), he is Environmental Discipline Advisory Panel Member, Assessor of Professional Membership and Companies, as well as Environmental Discipline Representative in Training Committee. He also served as Guest Lecturer in local universities and Technical Advisor in Project Mingde of HKU. He has published 23 international journal and conference papers. He is holding the HKIE professional memberships of Environmental Discipline and Energy Discipline, and Hong Kong Institute of Qualified Environmental Professionals. He is the first batch of Engineering EIA Professional (Eng EIA Pro) accredited by HKIE. Furthermore, he serves as Expert Witness in prosecution cases for environmental ordinances.
