SEE Colloquium on Hong Kong’s Stories in the Journey towards Carbon Neutrality
The School of Energy and Environment recently organized a significant colloquium titled “Hong Kong’s Stories in the Journey towards Carbon Neutrality” on 9 October 2024. The speech was delivered by Mr. Wong Kam Sing, GBS, JP, Former Secretary for the Environment of the HKSAR Government.
During the colloquium, Mr. Wong Kam Sing shared insightful perspectives on Hong Kong's journey towards achieving carbon neutrality. He outlined the city's strategies in tackling carbon emission challenges and introduced key sustainable development initiatives.
Participants from academia, industry, and various sectors actively engaged in enriching discussions during the event.
Mr. WONG Kam Sing, GBS, JP, is an architect. He was the Secretary for the Environment, Hong Kong SAR Government, in 2012-2022, overseeing the issuance of various policy blueprints on climate change, energy saving, air quality, waste management, biodiversity etc. and leading Hong Kong towards carbon neutrality before 2050. He is currently Chairman of Wu Zhi Qiao (Bridge to China) Charitable Foundation, Distinguished Department of Architecture Fellow at The University of Hong Kong, and Honorary Professor at Hong Kong Chu Hai College.
