Prof. Fatwa F. Abdi Awarded ANR/RGC Joint Research Scheme in 2024/25 Exercise

Prof. Fatwa F. Abdi, an Associate Professor from SEE, has been awarded a 3-year research grant from the French National Research Agency (ANR) / Research Grants Council (RGC) Joint Research Scheme, with a total funding amount of HKD 1.7 million. In the current 2024/25 exercise, Prof. Abdi is the only recipient from CityUHK to receive the ANR/RGC Joint Research Scheme Grant.

In this international collaborative project, he will work with French project partners, Prof. Ally Aukauloo (Université Paris-Saclay) and Dr. Philipp Gotico (French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission – CEA), on the smart integration of photoelectrochemical hydrogen production and catalytic transformation of biomass to generate valuable chemicals. The project combines multidisciplinary expertise from the French and HK partners in homogeneous catalysis, photoelectrode engineering, and device design to tackle important decarbonization challenges.
