Students should acquire knowledge of Applied Statistics and preferably Database Management and SAS programming. They should pay careful attention in selecting Out-of-Discipline courses. For example, selecting management and communication courses would help strengthen their communication skills. Students would learn basic SAS programming in the programme core course MA3518 Applied Statistics. Some courses from the CS and MS Departments also help students to become familiarized with the widely-used software Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and SAS. Students approaching their final year of studies should plan their studies well in advance. It would be beneficial for students to browse the website of CSCI for updates, placements and deadlines.
