Congratulations to the three recipients of the CityU Outstanding Research Award 2022 from the College of Science! The Awards will be presented at the coming College Commencement.

Outstanding Research Award:

Professor Hua Zhang, Herman Hu Chair Professor of Nanomaterials, Department of Chemistry

Professor Zhang was elected as a Foreign Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences (2020), an Academician of the Asia Pacific Academy of Materials (2015), and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (2014). In 2016, he was listed in the top 300 most-cited researchers in the field of materials science and engineering (Elsevier Scopus). In 2015-2021, he was listed in the "Highly Cited Researchers" in Chemistry and Materials Science (Clarivate Analytics/Thomson Reuters).

Outstanding Research Award for Junior Faculty:

Dr. Xianpeng Hu, Associate Professor of Department of Mathematics

Dr. Hu has been conferred the title of RGC Research Fellow by the Research Grants Council (RGC) for his excellent research achievements in July 2021. He is the recipient of the “Outstanding Supervisor Award” by CityU in 2020. In May 2017, he received the “HKMS Award for Young Scholars” from the Hong Kong Mathematical Society.

Dr. Chun Kit Kwok, Associate Professor of Department of Chemistry

Dr. Kwok received the Excellent Young Scientists Fund under the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) in 2022 and was recognised as an elected member of the Hong Kong Young Academy of Sciences (YASHK) in 2021. In 2019, Dr. Kwok was one of the recipients of the Croucher Innovation Award and the CityU President’s Award.
