The Clarivate’s highly cited researchers list recognises scientists who have demonstrated substantial influence in their fields by publishing multiple highly cited papers ranked in the top 1% by citations.
Among the Clarivate’s highly cited researchers, Professor David Xiongwen Lou, Chair Professor of the Department of Chemistry, is one of 22 researchers in the world awarded in three or more categories. Professor Hua Zhang, Herman Hu Chair Professor of Nanomaterials and Chair Professor of the Department of Chemistry, are among the 216 researchers in the world awarded in two categories.
Top 2% of the World’s Most Highly Cited Scientists
Moreover, 33 faculty members and 6 Emeritus/Honorary/Adjunct Professors from the College of Science have been listed among the “World’s Top 2% Most-cited Scientists” (career-long/single year) in the latest report of Stanford University released in October 2024. We are proud that about one-third of CSCI full-time faculty members, including three Assistant Professors, are on the list this year!

This latest report was prepared by a team of experts led by Professor John Ioannidis of Stanford University, based on the August 1, 2024 snapshot from the Scopus database and is updated to the end of citation year 2023. The publicly available database provides information on the work of the world’s top-cited scientists including standardised information on citations, h-index, co-authorship-adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions, and a composite indicator (c-score).
Scientists are classified into 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields. The selection is based on the top 100,000 scientists by c-score (with and without self-citations) or a percentile rank of 2% or above in the sub-field.
Congratulations to all the above members for their outstanding achievements!
