This year's CityU Information Day was successfully held on 22 October 2022 in hybrid mode, attracting more than 10,000 visitors on campus and even more joining online. The College of Science (CSCI) has prepared a series of activities, including online and on-campus talks on admission and development opportunities, as well as lab tours, with the participation of our faculty members, alumni and students.
At the Thematic Talk: “Science Talents for the GREAT Future”, Dr. Alex Wong, Undergraduate Outreach Coordinator (CSCI) assured the current DSE candidates of the opportunities to be guided in research on their interested topics and they can even realise their innovation by enrolling in the “Global Research Enrichment and Technopreneurship (GREAT)” undergraduate programme. Dr. Andy Siu, Programme Leader of GREAT, introduced the programme and admission requirements in detail. Further sharing was given by two current students of GREAT, Mr. Issac Ho and Miss Tasha Lam, on their valuable learning experiences, as well as Mr. Billy Lam, an CSCI alumnus and Chief Operation Officer & Co-Founder of Farm66 Investment Limited, on his entrepreneurial journey.
In an online talk, Professor Daniel Ho, CSCI Associate Dean (Undergraduate Education), introduced the various overseas enrichment programmes offered by the College. He also invited Mr. Sam Cheng, a year 4 student majoring in Computing Mathematics, to share his fruitful experience at the University of Cambridge, UK, through participating in the Overseas Internship Scheme in the summer 2022.
In other sessions hosted by the Departments of Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics, the Bachelor of Science programmes in Chemistry, Computing Mathematics, Physics, and the Double Degree programme - Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Science in Computing Mathematics, were also introduced.
The Info Day also included the most popular guided laboratory tours with demonstrations on colourful chemistry, magnetic levitation and 3D imaging, arousing participants’ interest to explore the fun in science.
