Data Science PhD Student Wins Excellent Paper Award at International Conference ICFOD

PhD student Miss Xihang LI from the Department of Data Science (DS), supervised by Professor Xiao QIAO, has been honored with the Excellent Paper Award at the 13th International Conference on Futures and Other Derivatives (ICFOD). The award-winning paper, titled “Relative Merits of Commodity Pricing Theories” was co-authored with Dr. John Hua FAN from Griffith University, Australia and Dr. Tingxi ZHANG from Curtin University, Australia. The conference took place at Shandong University, China, on November 23-24, 2024.
This year’s ICFOD was themed “Derivatives in the Age of AI.” The aim of this conference is to provide a high-quality, open academic exchange platform for financial researchers and practitioners both domestically and internationally, fostering in-depth research and exchange of the latest views on important issues in the fields of futures and other derivatives markets. This conference takes financial derivatives as the introduction point, focusing on the research and practice of sustainable development in the digital economy and financial markets under the backdrop of global financial integration in the AI era.
The paper was presented in the session - “Development of Financial Derivatives, Corporate Finance, and Capital Markets,” among a competitive field of 40 presentations across four parallel sessions, with only 15 papers receiving this distinguished recognition.
