Other students are allocated a major subject to the availability of places and the selection criteria set by individual majors.
Direct/ Non-JUPAS Applicants
For undergraduate programmes, the direct application option is available for applicants who do not have the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) or have HKDSE results but also possess other qualifications. These direct applicants are evaluated based on a range of credentials, which may include qualifications such as GCEAL, International Baccalaureate Diploma, sub-degree, Bachelor's degree, or other acceptable qualifications. In addition to these qualifications, performance on selection tests or interviews, where applicable, is also an important consideration in the assessment process. Non-Local/ Mainland Applicants
For non-local and Mainland Chinese applicants, there will be alternative admission routes that take into account the diverse educational qualifications from different countries and regions, which may include GCE, IB, SAT, Mainland Gaokao, National University Entrance Examination (NUEE) or other acceptable qualifications. In addition to the academic credentials, performance in interviews, where applicable, may also be considered. Visit non-local international admission and mainland admission [Non-Gaokao | Gaokao] for more details.
Admission with Advanced Standing
Students with a recognised qualification may be admitted to the University with advanced standing. 'Advanced Standing' is linked to the curriculum and graduation requirements. Two types of 'Advanced Standing' are available at CityUHK: Advanced Standing I (ASI) and Advanced Standing II (ASII). Click here for details about admission with Advanced Standing.
