Biography

Isaiah (Shy) Arkin studied biology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv University and obtained his Ph.D. from Yale University. He served on the faculty of Cambridge University, D.E. Shaw Research, and the Hebrew University, where he was the Vice president for research and development for eight years. His research interests revolve around viral membrane proteins. Using experimental and computational approaches, his group analyzes membrane transport systems of pathogens such as SARS-CoV-2, Flu, and more. His work led to identifying novel inhibitors of said viruses and unraveling the mechanisms leading to viral drug resistance.

Prof. Zhanfeng Cui
