  1. Is My Content Safe? / Will My Content be shared with Others?
    • The CityU GPT chatbot provides a private and secure environment to support the work and studies of CityU users. Your content will not be shared with others within or outside CityU.
    • As the CityU GPT chatbot is powered by Microsoft Azure OpenAI service, the input (prompts) and output (completions) are stored securely with Microsoft for up to thirty (30) days for monitoring the use that violates the applicable product terms. [Details]
    • The chatting history is stored in the CityU server for six (6) months to support recall of the conversations by individual users. As this is one of the IT services of the university, the same policies and guidelines apply.
  2. How Quota is Deducted? Somehow, the System Deducted More Quota than My Inputs and the Chatbot's Outputs in Combination.
    • The quota is deducted according to the number of words in the input (prompts) and the outputs (completions). Nevertheless, previous inputs and outputs, up to 10 consecutive iterations, are included in the new prompt to make the chatbot context-aware.   3. Why did CityU GPT chatbot tell me ESU at City University of Hong Kong stands for English Language Support Unit?
    • The GPT models are trained using a vast amount of text data collected from various sources, the data is divided into smaller unites and capture the relationships between words to provide human-like responses, but they do not have true understanding or consciousness. The answers rely on patterns learned from the training and may produce incorrect or nonsensical answers in certain situations.
    • ESU at CityU meant the Enterprise Solutions Unit. The unit has been renamed to Enterprise Solutions Office, but the abbreviation remains.
    • The CityU GPT chatbot responds according to the GPT large language model (LLM). The production team did not include CityU-specific knowledge in our GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 chatbots.
    • A Q&A assistant with CityU knowledge is being built with the GPT-3.5 model.
  4. Does CityU GPT chatbot have GPT-4 model? I asked it about GPT-4 and it said it did not exist.
    • Yes, all our staff and students can access the GPT-4 model in CityU GPT chatbot.
    • The GPT models for 3.5 & 4 are using the default training data up to September 2021, which GPT-4 has yet to release. You will have the answer that GPT-4 model does not exist even when using the GPT-4.
  5. What is the browser requirement for CityU ChatGPT Chatbot Service?
    • For best performance, CityU ChatGPT Chatbot should be used on the current release of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Apple Safari.
