Students from top-tier mainland universities visit CityUHK

City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) is dedicated to fostering innovative and inspirational learning for the younger generation.  Twenty-five outstanding students from top-tier universities in the mainland including Peking University, Tsinghua University and Fudan University, visited CityUHK on 5 August 2024. The delegation was led by Professor Haixia Zhang of Peking University and supported by Give2Asia Foundation Limited.

In his welcoming speech, Professor Chan Chi-hou, Vice-President (Community Engagement), introduced the academic and research achievements of CityUHK. He hoped the visit would give the students an opportunity to learn about the academic environment and state-of-the-art facilities of the University. During the visit, Professor Lu Jian, Dean of the College of Engineering, introduced the College of Engineering and its research achievements and Professor Johnny Ho Chung-yin, Associate Vice-President (Enterprise), shared how CityUHK supports the cultivation of entrepreneurial talent through the innovation and entrepreneurship programme HK Tech 300. The students visited various facilities, including the State Key Laboratory of Terahertz and Millimeter Waves and the Time-resolved Aberration Corrected Environmental (TRACE) to learn the excellent research facilities of CityUHK. They also joined a guided tour for the exhibition “A Passion for Silk: The Road from China to Europe” in the Indra and Harry Banga Gallery which aims to provide artistic, innovative and technology-rich exhibitions that engage with the community.
