
Collaborative efforts to promote social inclusion
Professor Steve Wong, Associate Vice-President (Community Engagement), attended the 14th Anniversary Dinner of the Hong Kong Network for the Promotion of Inclusive Society (HKNPIS), CityUHK’s close partner in promoting social inclusion, on 16 January 2025. HKNPIS is committed to promoting an inclusive and altruistic culture in society through encouraging people with disabilities to take part in activities of sports rehabilitation, education and empowerment, arts and culture as well as universal design and technology.

Fostering Communication and Collaboration with Sha Tin District Community
City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) hosted two visits to the Lee Shau Kee Student Residence Village (Student Residence Village) for the delegation of the Sha Tin District Office and the delegation of chairpersons and members of the owners’ committees of the residential properties in the neighbourhood in October 2024 and January 2025 respectively to promote communication and encourage cooperation with the community members in the Sha Tin District where the Student Residence Village was located.

CityUHK hosts a student carnival to unite the University community
City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) held its 30th Anniversary Student Carnival on 17 January at University Circle and Wong’s International Terrace to commemorate the 30th anniversary since achieving university status, and further strengthen the bonds between faculty and students, allowing them to enjoy a pleasant evening together.

Celebrating youth achievements at the Strive and Rise Programme Graduation Ceremony
On 12 January 2025, Professor Chan Chi-hou, Vice-President (Community Engagement) and Professor Steve Wong, Associate Vice-President (Community Engagement), attended the Strive and Rise Programme Graduation Ceremony at the Kai Tak Arena to celebrate the accomplishments of the mentees who have completed the year-long programme. The ceremony featured 4,000 graduates from the second cohort, who not only showcased their learning achievements to representatives from the Government, business sector, and community but also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the mentors who have provided unwavering care and support throughout their journey.
CityUHK hosts "Innovation@Community Carnival" to promote the impact of innovation
From 2 to 5 January, CityUHK hosted the "Innovation@Community Carnival" at D2 Place ONE in Lai Chi Kok. The event featured a series of exciting activities, providing visitors with the opportunity to experience the innovative spirit and achievements of the start-ups under the University’s flagship innovation and entrepreneurship programme, HK Tech 300, as well as those of the University’s partners and CityUHK alumni, and to learn how these achievements contributed to the local community and addressed global challenges.
Innovation@Community Carnival: Exploring Ideas that Shape the Future
The Innovation@Community Carnival, held from 2 to 5 January 2025, transformed the vibrant venue at D2 Place ONE into a dynamic showcase of technological advancements, entrepreneurial ingenuity and creative engagement. Organized by the Office of Vice-President (Community Engagement) of CityUHK, the event featured five thematic zones, namely, Education, Sustainability, Food, Lifestyle, and Healthcare, and offered an array of STEAM workshops, busking performances, and interactive experiences, including a game booth designed by alumni of CityUHK’s School of Creative Media.
