City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) is one of the incubation partners of JC PROJECT LIFT, which is funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. This Trust-initiated project is based on the successful Graduation Approach used in rural settings overseas, localised to a targeted model aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty in urban settings.
Commencing in the third quarter of 2023, CityUHK plays a key role in training the Family Capacity Building Planners (FCBP)TM and providing individual supervision support, working closely with the participating families to enhance and explore their Family Capabilities, develop sustainable livelihoods and achieve upward social mobility. The project will last for 5 years, covering 25 transitional housing projects, and is expected to benefit 14,000 families.
The project is overseen by the Office of the Vice-President (Community Engagement) and implemented by a team led by Professor Chan Siu Ming from the Department of Social and Behavioural Sciences.
