Promoting social inclusion through film appreciation charity event
On 10 December 2024, Professor Steve Wong, Associate Vice-President (Community Engagement), participated in a heartwarming film appreciation charity event featuring An Abandoned Team (得寵先生). The event brought together CityUHK students, along with the principal, teachers, and students from the Society of Boys' Centres Chak Yan Centre School and True Light Girls' College, and visually impaired persons from the Hong Kong Network for the Promotion of Inclusive Society.
The charity event not only provided an opportunity to watch a touching film but also highlighted the collaborative efforts of educational institutions in promoting social inclusion and community engagement through the arts. As the audience engaged with the film, discussions centred around the importance of empathy and connection in overcoming social barriers. Professor Wong emphasized the role of such community events in fostering understanding among diverse groups.
A highlight of the event was the presence of actor Mr Cheng Dan-shui (鄭丹瑞), who attended to share insights and engage in discussions with the audience. His participation added a personal touch to the evening, enriching the experience for all attendees.
