CityUHK collaborates with IEEE Hong Kong Section to inspire future innovators and leaders
City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) is committed to cultivating talent through an inspiring, interactive and innovative education. A total of 38 secondary school students joined the TryEngineering on Campus: Hong Kong 2024 at CityUHK from 9-10 August 2024 during which they attended workshop on AI concepts, participated in industry visit, project design and competition and had a taste of staying in the university hostel.
The event, an initiative by IEEE Hong Kong Special Section with CityUHK as a technical sponsor, offered a unique chance for young minds to explore the possibilities of AI and its applications in real world scenarios. It aimed to inspire the next generation of innovators and leaders through hands-on projects and multi-disciplinary teamwork.
“It was our pleasure to support the event, providing young people an opportunity to explore and learn about the fast growing AI technology and its applications as well as experiencing university life at CityUHK,” said Professor Steve Wong Hang, Associate Vice-President (Community Engagement). He also thanked the organizer for arranging study grants to support students to take part at the event. Schools from the CityUHK Connect and other local schools were invited to nominate students to apply for the study grant and a total of ten students were awarded the grant.
