CityUHK and Holy Trinity College educators exchange insights on teaching and research

City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) welcomed educators of Holy Trinity College to campus for their Teachers’ Development Day on 5 December 2024. The visit provided valuable insights into the intersection of scientific research, education, and culture, demonstrating CityUHK’s commitment to fostering interdisciplinary learning.

In his welcome remarks, Professor Chan Chi-hou, Vice-President (Community Engagement), emphasized the importance of innovative, learning-centric education and highlighted CityUHK’s initiatives in STEAM education and entrepreneurship.

The teachers attended two engaging talks, one by Professor Kaite Chan from the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Electrical Engineering, which explored how interdisciplinary research enhances societal well-being, and another by representatives from the Admissions Office, who introduced the University’s diverse academic programmes equip students for future challenges.

Following the talks, teachers visited the State Key Laboratory of Marine Pollution and the Laboratory Animal Research Unit, gaining insights into cutting-edge scientific advancements.

The tour concluded with a visit to the exhibition Might & Magnificence – Ceremonial Arms and Armour, at the Indra and Harry Banga Gallery, which showcased the historical weaponry and craftsmanship.

The Teachers’ Development Day reinforced CityUHK’s role as a hub for academic exploration and professional development. By bridging scientific discovery, education, and cultural enrichment, the University continues to support educators with the knowledge and resources to shape future-ready students.
