The research team has been working on variety of research on Systems and Control including intelligent systems and control, motion control systems, robotics optimization, machine vision, condition monitoring and smart asset managements.
Among research topics to be investigated is the modeling, analysis and control system design of variety of nonlinear systems using the intelligent techniques such as fuzzy logic, neural networks, learning, and/or adaptive control combined with conventional control techniques. Integrated high precision motion control systems consisting of digital servo drivers and digital controllers will be developed. The use of passive stereo and active vision for robot navigation and tracking control will be studied. Feature based and position based servo control methods will be investigated. Implementation on a mobile robot and a robot manipulator tracking application will be conducted. Condition monitoring technology and smart asset maintenance system (SAMS) will also be further developed for helping industry in equipment health monitoring mainly via web-based remote monitoring and wireless communication that can be embedded to the current SAMS.
