City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), named the Most International University by Times Higher Education in 2024, is actively fostering global collaboration to enhance academic excellence and provide more opportunities for our students and faculty to explore the world. On 15 July, CityUHK and POLIMI Graduate School of Management (POLIMI GSoM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic ties between the two institutions.

A high-level delegation led by Professor Freddy Boey, CityUHK President, visited POLIMI GSoM in Milan, Italy. The MoU was signed by President Boey and Professor Vittorio Chiesa, Chairman of POLIMI GSoM. The agreement focuses on the exchange of faculty members, scholars and postgraduate students between the two institutions. It also explores the feasibility of developing customised education programmes, such as online and in-person, short-term programmes and study tours, master’s programmes and double-degree postgraduate programmes. Under the MoU, both parties also agree to explore opportunities to organise joint degree programmes, executive education programmes, and online and in-person seminars.

For the past year, faculty members of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) at CityUHK have been working with Professor Deborah Agostino and her colleagues at POLIMI GSoM to spearhead this collaborative initiative. They will continue to work closely to implement the collaboration initiatives.

President Boey said, “CityUHK is committed to actively forming academic partnerships with global universities, contributing to bolster Hong Kong's role as an international hub for education. We look forward to joining hands with POLIMI Graduate School of Management to promote inspirational, interactive and innovative learning.”

The CityUHK delegation also included Professor Alfred Ho Tat-kei, Dean of CLASS, Professor Esterina Nervino from the Department of English and the Department of Marketing, and Ms Ng Pheck-choo, Director of the Office of the President.

CityUHK is committed to promoting academic and scientific research collaboration by establishing partnerships with esteemed universities and organisations worldwide. Notable partners include (in alphabetical order): National University of Singapore, Peking University, Satbayev University, Tsinghua University, University of Cambridge, University of Johannesburg in South Africa, and others.
