Honorary Chairperson’s Message

榮譽主席的話

The past year was an extremely active and productive one for the City University of Hong Kong Foundation
(CityU Foundation). On behalf of the CityU Foundation, I would like to offer my sincerest gratitude to the
University’s stakeholders, donors and friends for your valued support and generous donations.

The University depends heavily on donations to provide financial aid for students, to fund research and other
programmes, to address local and global challenges and needs, and to advance the University’s strategic
plans. The CityU Foundation plays a key role in raising funds to take these plans to fruition. The number
of new and upgraded members of the Foundation has increased continuously since its establishment
in 2014, providing support and encouragement for the University’s vision and mission. This year’s CityU
Foundation annual dinner raised over HK$10 million to help fund overseas student exchange and internship
programmes, enabling more CityU students to benefit from these programmes.

Several buildings and other facilities were renamed this year in appreciation of the valued support of CityU
Foundation members: the Yeung Kin Man Academic Building, the Lau Ming Wai Academic Building, the
Herbalgy Lecture Theatre, the Wong To Yick Tong Lecture Theatre, the CMA Lecture Theatre, Wong’s
International Terrace, the EMBA Association Executive Classroom, and the Wofoo Foundation Gallery.

Among the numerous CityU Foundation and University activities during the year were programmes to
nurture social innovation and digital creativity, initiatives to provide support for the elderly, exhibitions to
showcase the University’s research achievements, forums promoting the University’s research themes and
goals, a significant expansion in CityU’s research institutes and projects in the Mainland, continued world-
class scientific research achievements, significant progress in the development of veterinary education and
research, and several programmes to enrich the student learning experience. Without your support, all
these endeavours could not be made possible.

On behalf of the University, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks for your generosity and dedication
to the University’s mission and goals for academic and research excellence. We are confident that your
continued engagement and support will help the University reach new heights and allow us to celebrate
our growing list of achievements together in the coming years.
