Seat Arrangement
Please log in to your registered account to review the applied subject(s), venue(s) and assigned seat(s). Contact CityU at 3442 4567 if you have any questions. If we do not hear from you by 20 December 2023, we will assume that the information is confirmed, and you will sit for the assessment(s) accordingly.
CityU Campus Entry
- Students must bring their true copy of HKID cards for identification purpose.
- Students can enter the campus via CityU entrance (“A” in the below Campus Map) by presenting their HKID cards, and entrance QR code sent to their registered email accounts about 1 week before the assessment(s) :
- Although students taking both AM and PM sessions of assessments can re-enter the campus area with the same QR code, students are encouraged to have lunch at the 5/F Canteen (City Express) at Yeung Kin Man Academic Building.
Assessment Guidelines
- All assessments will take place at the lecture theatres at 4/F University Concourse, Yeung Kin Man Academic Building, CityU (See the Campus Map below).
- Students should follow the signages and report at their assigned lecture theatre(s) at least 15 minutes before the start of the assessment. Latecomers will NOT be given extra time.
- Students will be admitted into the venue 15 minutes before the start of the assessment. They should be seated in their assigned seats in each assessment.
- Students are NOT allowed to leave the assessment venue in the first 30 minutes and the last 15 minutes before the assessment ends. Latecomers arriving 30 minutes after the start of the assessment are NOT allowed to participate in the assessment.
- Students should place ONLY their HKID cards and necessary stationery on the desk. Students are required to fill in their applicant ID on the Question-Answer Books or MC answer sheets.
- Students should bring their own stationery, including HB pencils and erasers for marking MC answer sheets, and rulers for drawing graphs. Stationery will NOT be provided at the venue.
- Except for calculators pad-printed with the “H.K.E.A.A. APPROVED” or “H.K.E.A. APPROVED” label, other portable electronic devices cannot be used during the assessments.
- Students should switch off their portable electronic devices and put them in positions clearly visible to the invigilators.
- Students should place their personal belongings on the chair next to them. Please DO NOT leave any personal belongings unattended outside the venue. CityU will not be responsible for any loss of personal belongings.
- Students should follow the instructions of the invigilators during the assessments.
- Students should follow the instructions on the Question and Answer Books.
- CityU reserves the right to make decisions for disputes occurred.

The CityU STEAM Challenges is a set of written assessments based on HKDSE curricula designed for Form 6 students.

- The area for assessment is based on the compulsory part of HKDSE curriculum for each subject.
- Application is on a first-come, first-served basis with a quota of 800 for each timeslot.
- For the assessment on 13 January 2024, 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm, participants can only choose one subject (either M1 or M2) in the same timeslot.
- In case of adverse weather such as typhoon signal Pre-No.8 or above or black rainstorm warning, the assessments will be postponed to 7 January 2024 (Sunday) and 14 January 2024 (Sunday), respectively.
Opportunities for Participants:
Each participant will receive a classification of achievement, namely Distinction, Merit, Satisfactory, and Participation based on the assessment result. Participants with Merit or above may be granted priority admission interview opportunities for the undergraduate programmes offered by the College of Engineering, College of Science, or School of Energy and Environment.

- The fee is HK$200 per person for each subject.
- There will be no refund after payment is accepted.
- City University of Hong Kong reserves the right of final decision.

Online Application (Closed)
Step 1: Create a personal CityU STEAM Challenges account online at "Apply Now". Applicants need to register using either a Microsoft or Google email account for activation.
Step 2: Upon activation of the CityU STEAM Challenges account, you can login and select the subject(s) that you wish to take and make the online payment.
Step 3: After successful payment, you will receive a confirmation email.
