A1. Starting from Nov 2024, all CityUHK staff, students and alumni members can log on to CityUHK Single Sign On (SSO) platform with their "iAM Smart" accounts. All Hong Kong Identity Card holders (that should include study visa and working visa holders) can register for an "iAM Smart" account. For "iAM Smart" registration and technical requirements, please refer to this information on the "iAM Smart" website.
A2. After you have downloaded and installed "iAM Smart" mobile app, you have to link up the "iAM Smart" account and the CityUHK account. After the link up process, you can log on to CityUHK applications with your "iAM Smart" account. For details, please refer to the setup guide.
A3. "iAM Smart" allows users to perform authentication through personal mobile phones and log in for using the online services of with a single digital identity. “iAM Smart” users do not need to log in with username and passwords. As such, users can log on to the CityUHK applications in a passwordless way.
A4. No, CityUHK does not store any personal or private information such as HKID or date of birth when it's integrated with "iAM Smart".
A5. If it's about the setup of "iAM Smart", you can check with "iAM Smart" support. If you can use "iAM Smart" enabled online services but not with CityUHK SSO, you can check with CityUHK's IT Service Desk.
A6. Please check "iAM Smart" FAQ and then search "device".
A7. Both "iAM Smart" and "iAM Smart+" can use this service.
A8. Yes, MFA is still effective. "iAM Smart" is an alternative to your username and password. For example, if you log in to AIMS with "iAM Smart", you will still be asked for MFA verification.
