The CityU CENG Tech Day 2023 organized by the College of Engineering was held on 18 February 2023 (Saturday). The latest technology trends, the most forefront engineering discoveries and applied applications were showcased via a series of featured talks, interactive workshops and demonstrations. Students interested in engineering and technology benefited from these fun activities tailor-made for them by three of our departments, namely Department of Advanced Design and Systems Engineering (ADSE), Department of Electrical Engineering (EE), and Department of Mechanical Engineering (MNE).

In this workshop, there was an introduction of Systems Engineering with emphasis on Intelligent Manufacturing and Smart Cities, including the Use of Sensors, Internet of Things (IoT), Data Analytics, and Machine Learning.
Participants had opportunities to design their own smart city and smart manufacturing prototypes. |

In this workshop, participants learnt about how AI computation is being accelerated in dedicated hardware chips. They had hands-on experience on deploying an object detection model on AI hardware platform and applied it to smart city applications. |

In this workshop, participants learnt one of the specialized / emerging branches in Aerospace Engineering - Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), Micro Aerial Vehicle (MAV) in particular.
There was an introduction to different types of MAVs, including small rotorcraft, winged seed-inspired flyers, and flapping-wing MAVs. Participants also learnt the application of MAVs and design challenges associated with building biologically-inspired robotics systems, such as dynamic and control, autonomous guidance and environmental consideration. |
