CityU School of Law Commencement for Graduating Class of 2024
The School of Law of City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) held its Commencement at Wong Cheung Lo Hui Yuet Hall, Lau Ming Wai Academic Building in two sessions on 12 June 2024, celebrating the accomplishments of the graduating class of 2024.
More than 800 participants including faculty members and graduates from Bachelor of Laws, Juris Doctor, Master of Laws, Master of Laws in Arbitration and Dispute Resolution, Postgraduate Certificate in Laws, Doctor of Philosophy programmes, along with their parents, relatives and friends participated in this memorable event and witnessed the solemn moment. Ms Priscilla WONG Pui-sze, Council Chairman of The University of Hong Kong, was invited to attend the Commencement as the Guest of Honour.
Presiding at the ceremony, Professor LIN Feng, Dean of the School of Law, congratulated all of the graduates warmly on their wonderful achievement. Looking to the future, he hoped the graduates to use the legal knowledge and skills that they have acquired to serve the public and to contribute to the betterment of our legal system. “As you step into the real world of law, remember that you carry with you not just a degree, but a responsibility. A responsibility to uphold justice, to protect the rights of others, and to serve society,” he said. Finally, Professor Lin thanked the graduates for entrusting their university education to the School and hoped they will give back to the School when an opportunity arises.
Afterwards, our graduate representatives Mr LIU Mingxin, Ms TOBAR Geanna Trisha Lopez and Ms LIN Ye each gave an address on behalf of the class of 2024. Professor Julien CHAISSE also received his trophy for the CityUHK’s Outstanding Research Award 2023 in the ceremony.
The Commencement marks the beginning of a new journey for the graduates. CityUHK School of Law is confident that our graduates will stay strong and stand firm amidst the changing times. The School wishes them a bright future.
香港城市大學（城大）法律學院於2024年6月12日在劉鳴煒學術樓黃翔羅許月伉儷講堂舉行兩場畢業典禮，慶祝2024年畢業生圓滿完成學業。
逾八百名出席者包括本院教師，法律學學士、法律博士、法學碩士、法學碩士（仲裁及爭議解決學）、法學專業證書和哲學博士課程的畢業生與親友參與這場盛事並見證莊嚴的一刻。香港大學校委會主席王沛詩女士受邀擔任主禮嘉賓。
城大法律學院院長林峰教授宣佈典禮開始。他向全體畢業生表示熱烈祝賀。展望未來，他希望各位畢業生能運用所學的法律知識和技能，為公眾服務，並為完善香港的法律制度做出貢獻。他說：「當你們踏入社會，請記住，你們所擁有的不僅僅是一個學位，還有一份責任。這份責任包括維護正義、保護他人權利、服務社會。」最後，林教授感謝畢業生託付予城大法律學院教育的重任，並希望將來有機會大家可以回饋學院。
之後，畢業生代表劉明鑫, TOBAR Geanna Trisha Lopez和林曄分別在典禮上致辭。法律學院夏竹立教授亦在典禮上獲頒2023年香港城市大學傑出研究獎。
畢業典禮過後意味著畢業生要展開新旅程。法律學院相信畢業生擁有足夠的勇氣和力量去面對時代的挑戰。祝願各位畢業生前程錦繡。
