History
Concrete steps to establish the CityU LR were taken in 2009, though the idea of launching a law journal edited and run by students was floating around for a number of years. The establishment of the CityU LR represents the desire of both faculty members and students of the School of Law of City University of Hong Kong to make contributions to legal research and scholarship.
The CityU LR is the first of its kind law journal in Hong Kong in that this student-edited journal publishes papers by academics as well as students. The Editorial Board of the CityU LR comprise both students and faculty members — signifying the importance of fostering a life-long learning partnership between law students and law teachers. Moreover, all articles published in the CityU LR are reviewed anonymously by the Editorial Board as well as the Peer Reviewers. Encompassing these special features, the CityU LR seeks to fill this void in the traditions of legal education in Hong Kong.
The CityU LR runs annually. It aims to publish papers on diverse contemporary themes relevant both locally and globally. Submissions from academics, students, lawyers, judges, and law professionals from all over the world are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year.
