Expert Talk
  Live Talk - Quantum Technology
現場/網上講座 - 量子科技
Classical physics, which includes Newton Mechanics, Maxwell Electromagnetism and Boltzmann Thermodynamics, has successfully explained all the physical phenomena before 19th century. Around 1900, several experiments, including photo-electric effect and thermal radiation, cannot be explained by classical physics. This gives rise to the birth of quantum mechanics, which successfully explains the atomic world. In the past, quantum mechanics is only explored by scientists in the laboratory. Nowadays, big companies, such as Google and IBM, have put a lot of effort for developing quantum computer, transferring from science to technology. Just similar to transistor, quantum technology will revolutionize nowadays technology. This talk will guide you through the past, present and future of quantum.
Time: 12:30 PM - 1:00 PM
Speaker: Dr. HOI Io Chun (Associate Professor)
Language:  Cantonese

Lab Guided Tours
Topic:  Lab Guided Tour: Innovation Technology in Physics – Magnetic levitation and 3D imaging demonstration
實驗室導賞:
創新科技的物理 – 磁浮及立體影像展示
Demonstrations and explanations of principles relating to the experiments and exhibits.
A wide collection of fun experiments and exhibits to illustrate important concepts in physics. These experiments reflect the concepts that students will learn in our Physics programme.
  Examples of the exhibits include:
- A superconductor is placed above magnets, it can be levitated by this repulsive force (Meissner effect).
- Of the many ways to produce a hologram, we would demonstrate a method for producing holograms by using He-Ne laser.
Visitors are welcome to touch, feel and operate some of the exhibits, or try performing some of the experiments by themselves.
Time:
