The Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health offers a unique curriculum for our undergraduate and postgraduate students and we support their learning journey with state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities.
Apart from the professional and interactive supervision from the faculty, our students will be receiving ample opportunities in animal, clinical and research exposure during the course of their study.
Among the available facilities, the specifically-designed practical lab is intended for biomedical sciences, including histology and microorganism studies. A Biosafety Level 2 Lab is installed to provide the international safety standard for handling biosafety level 2 microorganisms. Class I and Class II biosafety cabinets are also installed, supporting general tissue culture and histological experiments. The Pathobiology and Anatomy Teaching Laboratories are newly built and ready for use in supporting specialised teaching activities, such as gross dissection, histology, physiology and pathology.
In addition, general use practical labs are also available for a broad range of basic sciences, including biology, biochemistry and molecular biology. The general use practical labs are purposely-built with design and equipment facilitating efficient operation of experiments. These laboratories carry a mix of professional and passionate design reflecting the department's passion and commitment to research and academic excellence.
Our students at the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences will enjoy other university-wide facilities at CityU including spacious multimedia lecture theatres and classrooms, and newly designed study rooms. All teaching spaces have sufficient WiFi capacity to support three devices in concurrent operation per student.
