CityUHK Undergraduate Info Day 2024 Explore hundreds of events showcasing the latest programme and admissions information

 

City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) will hold its Undergraduate Info Day on 5 October this year on the Kowloon Tong campus, making it one of the first of the eight UGC-funded universities to organise an Info Day this year. Nearly 200 events will be held on Info Day, allowing secondary school students and parents to learn about campus life at CityUHK, recent developments, the latest programmes and admissions information. The first 1,000 participants will receive a special CityUHK souvenir.

An array of activities will be held on Info Day. In addition to multiple JUPAS and non-JUPAS Admissions talks for Form six secondary school students and holders of internationally recognised qualifications or sub-degrees, various colleges and departments will hold programme talks, consultation sessions, exhibitions, tours and sharing sessions with students and alumni. Furthermore, representatives from Columbia University in the United States will visit CityUHK to host a talk on the Joint Bachelor's Degree Programme offered by the two institutions, explaining how the programme provides students with an international undergraduate education experience.

Participants can also learn more about the nine Flagship Programmes in collaboration with top global universities, including programme features, overseas exchange and internship opportunities, and admission requirements. They will also have the chance to interact with professors and students in the programmes. The number of Flagship Programmes will be expanded to nine in the 2025/26 academic year, and offering scholarships will be offered to outstanding local students admitted through JUPAS that will cover all or half of their tuition fees, hall fees, and a one-off exchange sponsorship of up to HK$500,000. 

Students enrolled in the flagship programmes will have the opportunity to visit top global institutions, including Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Imperial College London, University of Oxford, Harvard University, University of Cambridge, Cornell University, University of Toronto and Columbia University. In addition to equipping students with essential knowledge and skills in their subjects and fostering global leadership abilities, the programmes connect them with top professionals, ensuring valuable development opportunities.

The nine Flagship Programmes are BSocSc Psychology [Stream: Wellbeing Enhancement and Care Management (WE-CARE) Programme]; Creative Arts and Technology Excellence; Data Empowerment: Learn, Transform and Achieve; International Sustainability Programme for Innovation, Research and Entrepreneurship; Bachelor of Laws; Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine; BBA Global Business; Global Research Enrichment and Technopreneurship; and Pathway for Research, Innovation and Multinational Engineering. 

CityUHK is committed to promoting inspirational, interactive and innovative learning for the young generation and encouraging faculty and students to adopt a learning-centric approach, which will allow students to explore areas beyond academics through innovative learning. In the 2025/26 academic year, CityUHK will offer 59 programmes with over 2,000 first-year places for both JUPAS and non-JUPAS applicants.

As CityUHK was ranked the Most International University in the World 2024 by Times Higher Education (THE), the participants will have the opportunity to visit various facilities on campus. There will also be Hong Kong-style snacks and photo-taking spots to give participants a taste of the carnival atmosphere and experience the international campus life.

CityUHK also held Principals’ Luncheon 2024 under the theme “Nurturing Global Talent and Future Leaders” on 30 September to officially launch the Flagship Programmes. About 100 guests, including secondary school principals and teachers and CityUHK management, faculty and students joined the enjoyable luncheon and engaged in meaningful conversations and learned about CityUHK developments, especially the Flagship Programme for providing the latest admission information for JUPAS students.

Professor Lee Chun-sing, Provost and Deputy President, shared CityUHK’s latest developments and achievements. “CityUHK will launch nine Flagship Programmes in the next academic year, including various professional programmes and features,” he said. “The programme also offers scholarships, exchanges and internships at top global universities to broaden our students’ international horizons.” 

He revealed that Times Higher Education (THE) ranked CityUHK the Most International University in the World this year and that CityUHK was ranked 62nd in World University Rankings by QS. CityUHK is proud to be a young and energetic university, he added. 

Professor Chan Chi-hou, Vice-President (Community Engagement) said: “CityUHK values its connections and collaboration with secondary schools, and through various activities, aims to help secondary school students broaden their horizons, understand the academic environment and atmosphere of the university, and inspire them to prepare and plan for their future development.”
