CityUHK’s Position on the Proposed Tuition Fee Increase Over the Next Three Years

In response to the recent announcement by the HKSAR government concerning the phased increase in tuition fees for all UGC-funded universities in Hong Kong over the next three years, City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) understands the proposed changes.

CityUHK is steadfast in its commitment to bolster support, including securing additional donations, for students facing financial constraints. This is to ensure that opportunities such as overseas exchange programmes remain within reach for students from low-income families.

Specifically, in the 2024/25 academic year, we will launch a series of Flagship Programmes. Local JUPAS talents who meet the eligibility criteria will be awarded the Flagship Scholarships covering tuition and hall fees, a guaranteed berth, and a one-off exchange sponsorship of up to HK$500,000. These programmes are:

•    Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences: Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM)
•    College of Business: BBA Global Business (BBA GBU)
•    College of Science: Global Research Enrichment and Technopreneurship (GREAT)
•    College of Engineering: Pathway for Research, Innovation, and Multinational Engineering (PRIME)

The University will persist in cultivating the next generation of young talent, instilling an international perspective and an inspiring mindset.
