Grand Opening Ceremony for City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan)

City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) will host its Grand Opening Ceremony on 2 September 2024. Presiding over the Ceremony are The Honourable CY Leung, Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference; Mr Lester Garson Huang, SBS, JP, CityUHK Council Chairman; and Professor Freddy Boey, CityUHK President; along with officials from the Ministry of Education and the provincial government.

In early 2020, the Dongguan Municipal People’s Government, CityUHK, and Dongguan University of Technology signed an agreement to jointly establish CityUHK (Dongguan). On 16 April 2024, the Ministry of Education officially approved the establishment of CityUHK (Dongguan). This significant milestone marks a new chapter in higher education cooperation within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and further solidifies CityUHK’s leading position in innovative education and talent development. CityUHK (Dongguan) will uphold CityUHK’s educational philosophy, fostering an educational environment that is inspiring, interactive and innovative under the principle of ‘two schools, one quality’.

In view of the need for the University to arrange a shuttle bus for media to transport between Kowloon Tong and City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan), for media outlets interested in attending the opening ceremony, please reply to this email by 12 noon, 25 August (Sunday).
