CityUHK DBA Alumni Association holds its Inauguration Ceremony, strengthening the bonds among its alumni

City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) celebrated the official inauguration of its Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) Alumni Association on 19 February, marking a significant milestone for the University’s DBA community.
In his opening remarks, Professor Freddy Boey, President and University Distinguished Professor of CityUHK, emphasised the importance of alumni networks in fostering professional growth and collaboration, adding that the DBA Alumni Association represents a vibrant community of leaders and innovators committed to advancing their careers and the mission of CityUHK.
Dr Toa Charm, Chairman of the DBA Alumni Association and a DBA graduate of the class of 2014, expressed his excitement with the establishment of the DBA Alumni Association and believed the association will help cultivate a dynamic community of CityUHK DBA alumni and learning partners.
“We aspire to become an influential alumni association that drives academic and professional excellence through engagement, collaboration and a commitment to societal betterment,” said Dr Charm. “We can create impactful relationships that benefit our members and the broader community within the College of Business and CityUHK."


Professor Muammer Ozer, Director of the DBA programme, said he looked forward to the continued growth of the DBA programme and the invaluable contributions of the alumni in shaping the future. “Since the launch of the CityUHK DBA programme in 2006, it has been inspiring to see our graduates and learning partners not only excel in their fields, but also come together to support one another in research and study. This collaborative spirit reflects the essence of our programme, fostering a resourceful community that empowers its members," he added.

Other CityUHK representatives attending the ceremony included Professor Anderson Shum Ho-cheung, Vice-President (Research); Professor Chan Chi-hou, Vice-President (Community Engagement); Professor Kalok Chan, Dean of the College of Business; Professor Lu Jian, Dean of the College of Engineering; and Professor Xin Wang, Dean of the College of Science.
Other guests attending the ceremony included Dr Bryan Wong, Chairman of the CityUHK Alumni Association; Ms Innes Chiu, Chairman of the CityUHK MBA Alumni Association; Mr Ben Lam, Vice-Chairman of the CityUHK EMBA Alumni Association; and Mr Alvin Leung, President of the CityUHK Department of Management Alumni Association.
Established in 2006, the DBA programme at CityUHK has graduated over 146 alumni. The formation of the DBA Alumni Association aims to strengthen the bonds among DBA alumni and learning partners across cohorts, create relevant value for the CityUHK DBA community, engage closely with the University’s management and communities, generate economic, research and social impact, and advise and support current learning partners on their DBA research and study.
