CityUHK ranks among Top 30 Asian Universities in THE Reputation Rankings 2025

City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) announces its recognition as one of the top 30 universities in Asia in the Times Higher Education (THE) World Reputation Rankings 2025. This achievement marks the fourth consecutive year that CityUHK has secured a position within the prestigious Top 30 among Asian universities.
The rankings, which feature the 300 most esteemed universities worldwide the first time, were determined through a survey of 55,000 academics invited globally. Notably, only 15% of the ranked institutions hail from Asia, underscoring the significance of CityUHK's accomplishment.
As a dynamic and innovative institution, CityUHK's growing global influence has led to its invitation to join the THE World 100 Reputation Network Management Committee, where it proudly serves as the only Asian representative. THE World 100 Reputation Network is a global network for reputation managers from the world’s leading universities. Members include King's College London, the London School of Economics and Political Science, the University of Toronto, and the University of New South Wales, among others. This role aims to elevate the profile of Asian universities on the global stage, showcasing their achievements and enhancing their branding in the realm of higher education.
Ms Vicky Irwin, Senior Director of THE Consultancy and Strategic Sponsor of THE World 100 Reputation Network, expressed her enthusiasm for CityUHK's involvement. “We are thrilled to have CityUHK join our World 100 Reputation Network Management Committee, bringing valuable local and regional insights to our global network. With only 15% of the 300 ranked universities from Asia, the region presents immense growth opportunities, and we are witnessing increased interest among Asian universities in managing and developing their international reputations,” she stated.
Professor Freddy Boey, President and University Distinguished Professor of CityUHK, expressed gratitude for the recognition. He emphasised the University’s commitment to positioning Hong Kong as a global hub for higher education and strengthening the “Study in Hong Kong” brand.
“CityUHK's recent achievements in academic excellence and innovative research reflect our dedication to advancing interdisciplinary teaching and research. We are excited to continue expanding our global footprint through partnerships with leading universities and organisations worldwide,” President Boey remarked.
CityUHK continues to excel in various global rankings, having been named the Most International University by THE last year and ranking 78th in the THE World University Rankings 2025. Additionally, the University achieved 25th globally, 8th in Asia, and 2nd in Hong Kong in the THE Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2025. In the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) 2025 Asia University Rankings, CityUHK was ranked 10th in Asia and 3rd in Hong Kong.
