Staff party celebrates the Year of the Snake

CityUHK celebrates the Year of the Snake at a staff party on 12 February.

Over 1,000 City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) faculty and staff gathered on 12 February to celebrate the Year of the Snake at a staff party. They enjoyed a festive afternoon filled with the sounds of gongs, drums and laughter in celebration of the Year of the Snake and the Lantern Festival.

Professor Freddy Boey, CityUHK President and University Distinguished Professor, officiated the eye-dotting ceremony for the Lion Dance performance to kick off the event. The Lion Dance performance, with the “green-picking” tradition, aimed to bring good luck to CityUHK in the new year. In his welcoming remarks, President Boey wished everyone at the University a prosperous and successful new year ahead and led the "Lo Hei" ceremony, symbolising a smooth and flourishing year for CityUHK.

Two "Gods of Wealth" bringing New Year blessings made a surprise appearance at the staff party, organised by the Human Resources Office. In addition, CityUHK students performed a vibrant taekwondo performance, adding a dynamic touch to the celebration.

The highly anticipated lucky draw brought the atmosphere to a climax, with staff members winning prizes, creating the festive spirit in the Year of the Snake.
