Delegation from the Ministry of Education visits CityUHK

City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan), hereinafter referred to as “(CityUHK (Dongguan)”, held its grand opening ceremony in September last year, marking a new milestone in educational cooperation between Dongguan and Hong Kong. Last December, a delegation from the Ministry of Education visited City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) to conduct in-depth exchanges on how CityUHK and CityUHK (Dongguan) can work together to promote high-quality development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

The delegation, led by Ms Liu Jin, Deputy Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Education, visited CityUHK on 12 December. Its members included Mr Gao Lei, Director of Evaluation and Monitoring Division, Education Supervision Bureau of the Ministry of Education; Ms Zheng Mi, Director of Evaluation Division, Education Quality Evaluation Agency of the Ministry of Education; and Mr Liu Yanqing, Deputy Director of the Office for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs of the Ministry of Education. They were warmly welcomed by senior management of CityUHK, including Professor Lee Chun-sing, Provost and Deputy President; Professor Julie Li Juan, Associate Vice-President (Mainland Strategy) of CityUHK and Vice President (Academic) of CityUHK (Dongguan); Professor Alan Wan Tze-kin, Associate Provost (Academic Affairs); and Professor Stephen Shum Wan-hang, Associate Provost (Quality Assurance and Accountability).

During the meeting, they discussed various topics, including collaborative education efforts between CityUHK and CityUHK (Dongguan), how to ensure CityUHK (Dongguan) adheres to CityUHK’s educational beliefs, maintaining high standards of education and cooperation between the two institutions, and measures to promote educational exchanges between Dongguan and Hong Kong.

In his welcome speech, Professor Lee thanked the delegation for visiting CityUHK and elaborated on the University's latest developments, including being ranked 10th in Asia in Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asian University Rankings 2025, making it one of the top 1% of universities in Asia and demonstrating the University's steady progress in academic research and the pursuit of innovative excellence.

Professor Li introduced CityUHK's mainland projects, including the latest developments and campus features of CityUHK (Dongguan). She emphasised that CityUHK (Dongguan), nestled in the "Leading Start-up Zone of the Comprehensive National Science Centre in the GBA", aims to create an international, interdisciplinary and open cooperation platform, cultivating innovative talent with a global perspective to contribute to the development of the country and the GBA.
