CityUHK holds flag-raising ceremony to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China
Mr Lester Garson Huang, Council Chairman of CityUHK, together with Provost and Deputy President Professor Lee Chun-sing, presided over a flag-raising ceremony at University Circle on 1 October to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
The Ceremony was attended by about 350 members of the University community, including Mr Charles Chin Ying-on, Treasurer of the Council, several Council members, namely, Dr Eugene Chan Kin-keung, Mr David Ho Chi-hoo, Mr Justin Wong Tak-ho, Mr William Khoo Wun-fat, Mr Alan Poon Pak-lun, Mr Li Guangda, Professor Kevin Downing, Secretary to the Council and Court members, namely, Dr Allen Shi Lop-tak, Dr Emmie Ho Ngai-man and Professor Albert Ip Yuk-keung, together with management, staff and student representatives. The national, regional and University flags were raised to celebrate National Day. CityUHK students trained as Guards of Honour carried out the ceremony.
CityUHK has been closely collaborating with mainland. In addition to establishing partnerships with several renowned universities in the mainland to promote academic exchange and research development between the two regions, CityUHK will set up an innovation centre in Qingdao to drive research synergy. The recent grand opening of CityUHK (Dongguan) marks a milestone in cooperation between Dongguan and Hong Kong in promoting higher education collaboration within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. This year coincides with the 75th anniversary of National Day and the 30th anniversary of CityUHK. The University will continue to leverage its strengths to cultivate outstanding talent, injecting new momentum into the development of both the country and the city as we move forward together into the future.
