CityUHK Spring Festival celebrates Chinese New Year with students
Organised by the Student Residence Office of City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), a series of activities capturing the essence of Chinese traditions were held at the Spring Festival on 22 February. More than 1,500 students from various countries and areas gathered to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
Professor Freddy Boey, President of CityUHK led the senior leadership team and guests to add the finishing touches to the dragon before the signature luminous dragon performance.
President Boey said, “CityUHK was recognised as the Most International University in the world in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024. This is reflected in this event, with a record of over 1,500 students from more than 70 countries and areas participating, showcasing CityUHK’s reputation as an internationalised university that fosters cultural exchange. We will continue to enrich the student learning experience by encouraging them to learn innovatively and to go beyond academic boundaries to prepare our students for success in the fast-changing world and for innovating into the future.”
Other spectacular activities included the CityUHK Chinese Orchestra performing festive pieces, a luminous lion dance performance, festive food and game booths. Students also showcased their talent and diversified cultures by presenting an array of singing, dancing and rope skipping performances.
