Re-appointment of CityU Council Chairman and members
The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) has re-appointed Mr Lester Garson Huang, SBS, JP, as Council Chairman of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) for another year and re-appointed three Council members for additional three-year terms.
Mr Huang has served as Chairman of the Council of CityU since 2018. The solid support that he has rendered has enabled CityU to scale new heights and accomplish many remarkable achievements. Under his stewardship, CityU has continued to pursue excellence by adopting the highest standards in higher education. CityU has benefited immensely from his leadership and invaluable advice. The re-appointment of Mr Huang will be effective from 1 January 2024.
Mr Huang expressed his gratitude for the re-appointment and thanked the CityU community for its continuous support. “I look forward to working with the CityU community again in the year ahead, contributing to Hong Kong, Mainland China and the world, and building a better future for our next generations,” said Mr Huang.
In addition, three outstanding members of the business and professional community have been appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR to the Council of CityU for terms of three years with effect from 1 January 2024:
1. Mr Charles Chin Ying-on, re-appointed as Treasurer and a member of the Council;
2. Mr Rex Wong Siu-han, JP, re-appointed as a member of the Council; and
3. Mr Peter Yan King-shun, JP, re-appointed as a member of the Council.
