Back into 2021, when Grace was competing in the Tokyo Olympics, CityU students, faculty and alumni gathered on campus to watch the live broadcast of the competition to cheer her on. After winning the Olympic Bronze medal, she returned to her alma mater for a celebratory gathering, sharing with CityU student athletes her learning and competition experience, and encouraging them to persevere in their beliefs and strive for excellence.

Since the establishment of the “Student Athletes Admission Scheme” in 1997, CityU has admitted more than 1,200 student-athletes to the University, including Grace. Prior to her graduation from CityU, she led the CityU Women’s Karate Team to win the team Gold medal in karate competitions among local universities. She was also named USFHK Sportswoman of the Year in 2014 and 2015.

In the past 15 years, CityU has won seven out of 12 Grand Slams in the local sports league, in which 13 local major tertiary institutions, including the eight UGC-funded universities, participate.
