CityU welcomes visiting students
As the most international university in the world, City University of Hong Kong (CityU) is committed to promoting a multicultural and vibrant campus. It warmly welcomes applicants who are interested in taking courses on a short-term basis to apply for admission as visiting students. CityU also welcomes applicants who wish to conduct research activities to enrol as visiting research students.
In view of the latest development of the pandemic, CityU provides opportunity for students who are adversely affected to continue their studies and/or research projects at CityU as visiting students. The deadline of the application for the scheme for Semester A 2020-21 has been extended to 3 August 2020.
“The world is experiencing unprecedented challenges and rapid changes in its social, economic and public health situation,” Professor Way Kuo, CityU President said.
“Amid the challenges, CityU continues to commit to nurturing and developing student’s talents and we do our best to help those whose study plans are adversely affected by the pandemic,” he added.
The following groups of students who are adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic are eligible to apply:
- Current secondary school/college graduates who have received offers to study at renowned overseas universities; and
- Students who are currently enrolled in bachelor’s/master’s/PhD degree programmes at renowned overseas universities.
Following existing application procedure, visiting undergraduate/postgraduate students will be admitted if the relevant course-offering units are satisfied with their academic ability, and if there are places available on the course(s).
In addition, each visiting research student will be attached to a department at which a supervisor (a staff member) will be assigned for supervising and monitoring the student’s progress throughout his or her stay at the University.
Upon acceptance of an offer of admission, applicants will be required to pay the tuition fees in full. Tuition fees are usually non-refundable and non-transferable. Fees are subject to revision from time to time without prior notification.
