City University of Hong Kong (CityU) held a kick-off ceremony “Goal for Healthy U – EIM Gold Campus Prelude” on 4 October, showing CityU’s continuous support in the direction of “Healthy U”.

Exercise is Medicine® On Campus (EIM-OC) is a US-based recognition scheme launched by the American College of Sports Medicine. The scheme encourages faculty, staff and students to work together to improve the health and well-being of the campus community.

After being awarded EIM-OC Silver Campus for the second time in 2019, CityU aims to achieve EIM-OC Gold Campus in 2020 by further collaborating with healthcare providers from our on-campus medical clinic to encourage physical activity participation.

In his speech at the kick-off ceremony, Dr Wong Chi-tim, Director of Student Development Services, stated that a series of initiatives, such as wellness activities, health and fitness counselling and health education information available at on-campus medical clinic, are offered to CityU community to promote health and well-being. CityU has also adopted “CityU Walk”, a mobile application, to track the participation of physical activity.

Activities such as organic food tasting, sharing on organic farming, rowing trials and health challenges were organised in the ceremony to promote healthy lifestyle to CityU community.
